Til ki barfi recipe (Sesame seeds barfi recipe) is a very easy dessert recipe from Indian cuisine. It is made by white til (white sesame seeds), khoa, sugar, ghee and dry fruits.

Til ki barfi (तिल की बर्फी) has special significance on Makar Sankranti festival in India which usually celebrated in Indian on 14th January every year. Eating and donating til on Makar Sankranti is considered auspicious. Hence, people make til laddu and til ki barfi on Makar Sankranti. In addition to this, eating sesame seeds in winter season is considered good for health as per Ayurveda.

  1. Roast Sesame seeds in a karahi till it turns pink.
  2. Now grind roasted sesame seeds coarsely.
  3. After it, mash or grate khoa and roast it till it turns pink.
  4. When khoa comes at room temperature then add sesame seeds, powdered sugar and dry fruits and mix it well.
  5. Finally add 1 tablespoon ghee in it and again mix it very well.
  6. Grease a thali or tray with ghee which has some depth.
  7. Turn this entire mixture in this thali.
  8. Spread it evenly and press it tightly with your palms.
  9. After 15 minutes, cut square cakes in desired size from it. You can also cut it from cookie cutters for beautiful designs.
  10. Serve it at room temperature.
Recipe Notes
  1. Shelf life of Til ki Barfi is 7 days.
  2. You may need to adjust the quantity of Ghee to bind the entire barfi mixture properly. Quantity of Ghee depends on the quality of Khoa. If your khoa itself contains ample quantity of Ghee, then you need to add small amount of Ghee otherwise you may need to add more Ghee.
