Palak paneer recipe (पालक पनीर रेसिपी) is a sumptuous North Indian vegetarian recipe. It is fresh spinach leaves curry served with paneer or Indian cottage cheese and generally garnished with low fat cream. It is rich, healthy and nutritious dish, well goes with many Indian breads like naan, tandoori roti, tawa roti and ofcourse with missi roti and even with plain rice or pulav.

Palak Paneer Recipe : Step by Step Instructions
  1. The first step to make spinach puree is we have to blanch spinach leaves. Boil water for it and add spinach to this hot water.

  2. You need to boil spinach leaves for 1 minute, and then transfer these leaves to chilled water for ice bath. It will stop overcooking of spinach leaves and will also help to retain nice bright green color of the leaves.

  3. Take out blanched spinach leaves from chilled water after 1 minute, drain the excess water and put in grinder to make fine puree.
  4. Also add all the ingredients in grinder which we listed to make spinach puree. We don’t need to add water to make puree.

  5. Now, make spinach curry.
  6. Heat oil in a pan.
  7. Add spinach puree in hot oil.
  8. Cover the lid and let it cook on medium flame for 5 minutes. Meanwhile stir it occasionally.
  9. After 5 minutes, add salt, turmeric powder, red chili powder and garam masala powder to it and mix it well. If your spinach curry is thick, you can add small amount of water at this stage.

  10. Let it cook for another 5 minutes on medium or low flame.
  11. Finally add low fat cream and paneer cubes to your spinach curry. Mix it well without breaking paneer cubes, again let it cook for 2 to 3 minutes with open lid on medium flame.

  12. Mouthwatering healthy palak paneer is ready. Serve it hot with any variety of Indian flat breads or rice recipes. Garnish it with low fat cream or ginger julienne.
