  1. Soak yellow moong lentils overnight.
  2. Drain in morning and grind to make coarse paste.
  3. Heat ghee in a non-stick kadahi.
  4. Add moong dal paste to it and cook on medium flame until golden yellow.

  5. It will take approximately 20 minutes. We need to stir it continuously till the raw aroma of moong lentils go away completely.
  6. Meanwhile, mix water, milk and sugar in a separate pan and boil on another stove.
  7. You can also add few threads of saffron in milk for additional flavor.
  8. Add hot milk in half cooked halwa.
  9. Stir for 2 minutes to let it mix properly with the paste. If lumps are forming, then break the lumps to make halwa with nice texture.
  10. Cook it on low flame and stir often until the liquid absorbed by the paste completely and ghee starts to separate from the sides.
  11. Nice golden brown colored moong dal halwa is ready which is very appealing to the eyes and is very tasty to eat.
  12. Add cardamom powder and mix well.
  13. Serve this delicious moong dal halwa hot and garnish it with almond chips.
Recipe Notes
  • This moong dal halwa can last upto a week if refrigerated.
