It is made of ripe tamarind pulp, sugar, salt, garam masala and red chili powder. It is consumed both as sauce and dip.

Tamarind Chutney Recipe : Step By Step Instructions
  1. Soak tamarind in 1 cup water for 5 to 6 hours at room temperature.
  2. When tamarind become soft, mash it to separate its pulp from the seeds and sieve it.
  3. Put this pulp in a pan.
  4. Add 1 cup water in it and let it boil on medium flame.
  5. Now, add all the spices and sugar in it and let it boil for 10 to 15 minutes on low flame.
  6. Meanwhile stir it.
  7. When it starts to become thick and get the consistency of tomato ketchup, remove it from flame.
  8. Serve your sweet and sour tamarind chutney at room temperature with Kachori, Samosa or any snacks of your choice.
Recipe Notes

You can also use Jaggery instead of sugar.
