Lachha Paratha has reserved space in menu in Indian restaurants and family events. It is a multi-layered unleavened flat bread baked in either tandoor or on hot tawa.

Lachha paratha is prepared by whole wheat flour. Salt is added to taste. Butter or Ghee is used to grease lachha paratha like other paratha recipes from Indian cuisine. Indian spices and thick puree of some vegetables are also added for flavored variations of lachha paratha in whole wheat flour while the flour kneaded.

Lachha Paratha Recipe - Step by Step Instructions
  1. First of all, knead whole wheat flour by adding salt and make a proper dough from it.
  2. Sprinkle few drops of water over it and leave it to set for 10 minutes.
  3. Make medium sized balls from this dough when it attains some elasticity.
  4. Dust it with dry flour and roll it with rolling pin in 5 inch sized Roti.
  5. Now grease it with 1 tea spoon Ghee.
  6. Now fold it in alternate layers like this and again make a ball from it.
  7. Once again dust it with dry flour and roll it in 5 inch sized Roti.
  8. Bake it from both the sides on hot Tawa by applying Ghee.
  9. Your fantastic crispy Lachha Paratha is ready to serve hot with vegetable, pickle and raita.
Recipe Notes
  1. You can add spices and/or thick vegetables puree of your choice at the time of kneading the flour to make flavored lachha paratha. For example, in 100 gm whole wheat flour, you can add 2 tbsp fresh spinach puree to make Palak Lachha Paratha (Spinach Lachha Paratha).
